"In this course, I became
very much aware of my
inability to express my
emotions and how I have
been trying to suppress
them over time. I learned
that suppressing emotions
is different from mastering
them. This course and
practicing meditation helps
me to understand these
emotions, let them come
back to the surface, and
welcome them in a way that
I can then master them
more easily.

"Bill, thank you for your
generous spirit and the gift
of teaching mindfulness. I
learned so much and
benefited, especially from
you sharing your story, your
suffering, your compassion,
and your wisdom. Joanne,
having you participate with
us was very special; your
presence and contributions
were so real and valuable.

"Bill, in your MBSR course, I
learned that I spend a lot of
time rehearsing and
rehashing thoughts in my
head, and that this is
unnecessary and not helpful. I
learned the benefit of clearing
the mind and being in the
present with my feelings of
worry and handling difficulties.
When I can focus on how I
feel in the moment, it helps
me not worry about how I may
feel in the future (specifically
relating to fatigue from
insomnia). It is hard for me to
feel emotions when I meditate,
but it is helpful for me to focus
on certain emotions and try to
sit with them.
